The time for the yearly visit to the Green Hell had come and preparation were on the way.

Unfortunately, my plans to install the F22C1 engine were abruptly stopped because of bearing issues and we literally had to replace the engine (with a stock F20C) in one day, in order to be ready for the Nurburgring in July 2019.

TIRES?

In my previous visits Ι had used various sizes and manufacturers. The first few visits (2014-2016) were on TOYO R888 and R888R (235/40/17 and 255/40/17).

R888 shown below:

R888R below:

The R888R was better than the 888 in that it made a lot less noise while having better grip. Both tires though are heavy.

In 2017 I changed to a square setup (255/40/17 all around). The car had more grip but the steering is a bit lighter during turn-in (you get used to this very easily though).

In 2017-8 I used Nankang AR-1 which is better than the R888 and similar to the R888R.

Michelin Sport Cup 2 below:

2019 was the time to test the Michelin Sport Cup 2. It is widely considered to a very good tire in that it is lighter than the TOYO R888R and Nankang AR-1, makes very little noise and can also be used as a road tire. It is actually a first fitment tire for many sports car manufacturers. As far as lap times are concerned my personal feeling is that it is a bit faster than the R888R and similar to the Nankang AR-1 which is quite impressive for an non dedicated track use tire.

And here you go! Some amazing scenery pics. Remember, the Ring is carved into a forest, a trace of tarmac inside a green landscape, the Green Hell...

Outside RSR Nurburg

In the pits, waiting for the TD to start! This year we had high temps (even above 40 deg C!)

At the famous Carousel with a local friend and a One Lap hero!

Some kind of competition (lololol)

More competition...

With Nikos Vaxevanidis, a sub-9 friend (lol) and co-driver on this DN event. Many thanks for the company!

With another sub-8 wanna-be warrior (I just had to....). 2020 is your year Victor!

We took part in a two day high level event, organized by Destination Nurburgring on which there is a very limited number of participants and most are We can only congratulate DN for the perfect event.

And last but not least, some videos from this event. I didnt manage to break my PB (but came very close) due to the very hot temperatures that we encountered.

Playing with some GT3 RS and a GT2 RS
