A dream come true...

There are some things in life that you just HAVE to do. So if you call yourself a petrohead and you live in Europe, you HAVE to visit the Green Hell aka the Nurburgring Nordschleife, at least once. I bet you wont be able to only go once, it's more addictive than you can imagine...

Plans plans plans! A trip to the Ring needs preparing well. Boat tickets, hotels, route planner. A lot to do. And of course, to prepare all the necessary gadgets for the visit. And a sticker, just for the fun of it!!

Fun sticker, 88:88 ready, hoping to go below 9 min BTG.

I chose to get Harry's lap timer, the best Iphone app on the market and a good gps receiver, namely the V-box sport. To go with that, I also bought a PLX kiwi2 wifi obd2 reader so that the information on the iphone would be complete.

And the trip started!

8 days in total with a close friend (no room for a 3rd person!), we left Athens on a sunny Saturday morning (Sept. 2014) and drove to Patra in order to board the Superfast Ferries vessel to Ancona.

We arrived at Ancona on Sunday afternoon and drove to Insbruck (Austria) for a good night's sleep. On Monday morning we continued our journey to Nurburg and arrived there after surviving long queues of traffic and A LOT of roadworks.

SOME PICS.

On the boat, relaxing...

Finally there!

View from our hotel room... No one can imagine what lies behind those hills...

Various images from professional photographers that sit around the track and take pictures.

The food was also surpisingly good, especially in the famous Pistenklause!

An amazing car. This guy however almost crashed into me on the entrance to the carousel...

Never give your car to Italian drivers! They will break your discs in 20''...

Conclusion: You can never ever be completely prepared for anything. The S2000 front brakes are not enough for track use.

Exceptional cars you can see at RSR Nurburg!

And finally, a picture to show the amazing elevation differences that you encounter in the Nordschleife!

My best time which is just fine imo, considering that the car was not properly setup (inadequate alignment, had wrong tire compound front and rear) and had brakes and clutch issues plus a yellow flag on the track.

The weather proved to be amazing and we managed to drive on 3 consecutive tourist days (2 hour evening sessions actually).

Words cannot describe our feelings, especially since we had to drive there from Greece. It will be a memory to cherish for as long as we live. Till the next time!
